An Interview with Alex

Because the next couple of days are going to be taken up with riveting things like removing pictures from walls and sorting through boxes of art supplies for things to donate to Alex's school, I thought I might have my kids help me with the next few blog posts.

Today Alex sat at the computer with me, and we did a little interview. I recorded his answers in Garage Band, with which I'm not too familiar, so there's a groovy synth drum track playing in the background, throughout this conversation...

All right, Alex, tell me what you first thought when we moved to Switzerland.

I thought...I was really excited about it. You told me about all the good things, like all the good chocolate and that there would be a good gummy bear store. But when I got there I was a little worried, where my school would be and what my teacher would look like.

Are you excited that we're going home?

Yes. I'm looking forward to going to Seattle and seeing all my different friends that we left there and showing them all of the words that I learned.

What's your favorite word in German?

Bon-bon!

What are you going to miss from Switzerland?

All of the best chocolates and gummies.

Anything else?

Well, all of my Kindergarten friends. Especially Jonas.

What's your favorite thing about Kindergarten here?

Hmm, that's the advent calendar. You get to do all the exciting things. You get to play the xylophone, you get to walk around, you get a ball. The difference is, the balls aren't always the same color, but everyone gets a ball. And I have a wiggly tooth right now.

What was the best place we went to this year?

Hmm, the Kinderhotel [in Croatia]. Pino was wonderful. It was really fun. They even had a swimming pool over the sea. But the pool was filled with saltwater. Bleah. It was funny because Kael always wanted a time-out in the shower.

Did you like riding the trains, or do you like cars better?

Cars. Because they're much faster and they're really good because they're ours. And they're really tight, so that no one else can sneak in.

What do you like best about our house?

It has a computer that you can talk to Grandma. And that even has a mustache button. Can I go do my sticker picture now?

  1. Aw--assuming I am at least one "Grandma" to whom he is referring:)

Alex, the best things for ME/us about Switzerland were 1) getting to visit you there last Spring and see your school and go places with you and 2) YOU ARE COMING HOME FROM THERE SOON!
